Working for an international food manufacturing business at their main UK factory you will report to the Chief Engineer and be responsible for ensuring that all of the plant equipment is maintained and optimised. As part of the engineering team you will undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and provide an efficient response to breakdowns in order to maintain optimum efficiency. You will have a professional engineering qualification, have strong electrical skills, knowledge of PLC to programming level, understanding of ammonia refrigeration plant and be proficient in diagnosing and rectifying faults mechanically across a wide range of process equipment.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer your principle activities will include; performing both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) own your own initiative and against the PPM schedule and accurately recording all maintenance work. Your role is crucial to the efficient running of the factory and as such you will be required to co-ordinate between engineering maintenance, production and quality assurance (QA). The business operates to lean principles and as such you will be a key contributor to and assist in the implementation of continuous improvement (CI) plans as agreed with the Engineering Management Team. As suppliers within a truly fast paced and dynamic sector we and our customers work to high levels of expectation and as such you will be measured against a range of KPIs to help ensure that quality is maintain and customer SLAs are met.

We are therefore ideally searching for candidates with previous knowledge and experience within a food or FMCG manufacturing background although other high volume manufacturing experience (pharmaceutical, health & beauty, printing, automotive) will also be given due consideration. As an apprentice trained, ideally electrically biased maintenance engineer you will be able to clearly demonstrate and prove your technical competence especially with regard to the sue of including diagnostics and fault find across a range of PLCs. Furthermore you will hold the 17th Edition C&G or 16th Edition with a willingness to bring up to date. The engineering department currently works to a 4 x 12 hour shift operation (rotating days/nights) including a requirement for working some weekends.
