This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and quality driven food manufacturer who supply a wide range of premium products primarily within the baking and ingredients categories. You will be producing major brands as well as grocery retailer own label products across a hugely diverse product range incorporating several hundred SKUs. Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for the technical management of all production, including product safety and legality, process control, traceability, quality assurance, quality control with support from the Quality Co-ordinator.

You will ensure adherence to all food safety standards and legislation to meet internal and external requirements with particular emphasis on BRC accreditation. Including, but not limited to the implementation and development of the company Quality and Food Safety Management System. Manage, develop and ensure compliance to HACCP and all regulatory / compliance matters, including keeping up-to-date with current legislation and customer policies. Furthermore you will ensure production environments are maintained to high standards. As Company Technical Manager you will take a lead with pack copy approval to ensure compliance with current Food Labeling Regulations.

Within your team you will ensure that training is delivered to ensure staff have adequate knowledge to achieve. The Technical Manager will also contribute to the formulation, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Strategy to provide operational effectiveness and ensure technical integrity. Your team will record all non-conformances and associated costs as well as manage the internal audit schedule. The department will also complete, maintain and control all technical specifications/requirements, specifically, but not limited to;
o retailer web based and hard copy specifications
o supermarket own label requirements
o company and customer format specifications
o specifications for raw materials and packaging
As Technical Manager you will approve and audit all suppliers and maintain an approved suppliers’ database this will incorporate managing third party site visits, including, but not limited to;
o Customer
o Environmental Health Office
o Trading Standards Office
Our Technical Manager works alongside the NPD Manager to ensure customer standards are met and correct procedures followed.

As the department head you will Chair relevant meetings including monthly QA/Ops, Supplier Review and other ad hoc meeting as well as manage the departmental budget. Lead, Motivate and develop the Quality Team, setting high standards and delivering customer excellence Prepare reports on KPI’s for monthly management meetings
In order to succeed in your application and when in post you will already have be technically
proven with a number of key retailers such as Tesco, Asda, M&S, J Sainsbury and
Morrison’s, previous experience of dealing with the discounters would be an advantage. You
will have a strong microbiological knowledge gained within an ambient food environment as
well as a strong knowledge of allergen handling. Over and above these professional
experiences you will also posses a number of key personal attributes such as a passion for
food and driving technical standards, the ability to communicate with a variety of
stakeholders and the energy and drive to inspire and motivate your team. Your previous
experience of dealing with the grocery retailers will tell you that you will need to be high
customer orientated whilst equally commercially astute.
