We are currently seeking to appoint for a Quality Assurance & Technical Assistant position available within the QA & Technical department of an innovative high volume food manufacturing business. This position will be reporting directly to the Technical Manager and as such you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating multiple teams to produce high quality products in an efficient and safe manner. The ability to work cross functionally is therefore essential. You will be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team as well as being able to demonstrate a methodical and logical thought process. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business is crucial. The Technical Department ensure that our industry recognised standards are maintain and as such you will be enabling the operation to deliver against our customers rightly high expectations.

With the remit and responsibilities of this position you will be directly involved in a variety of qualitative and quantitative checks including; scale checks temperature checks, checking and filing of technical paper work. You will also collect and book in shelf life samples before conducting shelf life testing and recording the findings. In addition to these test you will also co-ordinate and run weekly taste panels as well as maintaining the swabbing regime. Your role will be involved in the entire food manufacturing process as you ensure the highest quality standards are adhered to from goods in through to processing, packaging and dispatch of the final finished product to store. The shelf life test that you have already conducted will ensure that these premium convenience foods meet not only our customers expectations but also that they exceed those of the end consumer who is ultimately the best judge of our quality.

Going forward and as part of your personal development program you will become increasingly involved in conducting internal BRC audits as well as the writing of full product specifications writing quarterly traceability exercises.

You will ideally have gained exposure to and experience of working in a high volume manufacturing environment. Ideally this will have been with a food and drink manufacturing business supplying into the UK grocery retail channel and working to BRC standards. Whilst being a graduate with a degree in a relevant subject such and food science would be a distinct advantage we are also very keen to receive applications from candidates who have gained industry experience of working on the factory floor and are now seeking to develop and progress their career within the quality and technical functions.
