This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and quality driven food manufacturer who supply a wide range of premium products primarily within the baking and ingredients categories. You will be working with major brands as well as retailer own label products across a hugely diverse product range incorporating several hundred SKUs. As the company’s Purchasing Assistant your role will be extremely broad and cover a diverse range of raw material and packaging. You will provide supporting for the NPD department when sourcing new products / suppliers and also be responsible for developing longer term relationships with a group of core suppliers. This opportunity is working within an expanding privately owned business and as such you will also have involvement where appropriate with other departments across the business, as such a hands on “role your sleeves up” approach will be far more effective than a very corporate ivory towers mentality. Whilst you may be degree qualified this is by no means an essential requirement most importantly we are seeking a candidate who is able to work on their own initiative to deliver the required cost reductions with out any adverse effects to quality or service. As a driven purchasing professional you will be able to demonstrate that you possess a strong commercial acumen. Strong and effective negotiation skills are a must as is the ability to convey and apply modern purchasing tools and techniques in order to deliver the best total cost of ownership as opposed to simply opting for the lowest cost of purchase. We are seeking an individual with experience of sourcing both raw materials and packaging ideally within a food or drink manufacturing environment. Previous experience of using an ERP system such as Syspro would be advantageous as would experience of procuring; packaging, raw materials or finished product within an FMCG environment. As the company Technical Manager you will ensure adherence to all food safety standards and legislation to meet internal and external requirements with particular emphasis on BRC accreditation. You will also contribute to the formulation, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Strategy to provide operational effectiveness and ensure technical integrity. The Technical Manager will record all non-conformances and associated costs whilst managing the internal audit schedule. Your team will be responsible for completing, maintaining and controlling all technical specifications. You will approve and audit all suppliers and maintain an approved suppliers’ database whilst managing third party site visits. You will work alongside NPD Manager to ensure customer standards are met and correct procedures followed and also Chair relevant meetings prepare reports on KPI’s for monthly management meetings and of course manage your department’s budget. Reporting to the Technical Manager you will provide support across all technical matters, liaise with internal and external customers on technical requirements, specifications and complaints. In addition you will maintain and up-date product information on the ERP system and web based customer supply chain platforms. The role will also take responsibility for all artwork approval as well as providing quality support in the absence of the quality co-ordinator and working alongside them during peak times. You will be a graduate with a Food Science / Food Technology degree or similar level of relevant qualification who is now seeking to develop their career by joining a growing and progressive organisation that is willing to give people responsibility and autonomy.
