If you are seeking to join a corporate culture then this is NOT the opportunity for you. We are seeking a truly commercial and numerically astute purchasing professional who will flourish when given their own autonomy and room to grow. You may very well have a structured corporate background but more importantly for us you will have a burning desire to deliver cost savings and to negotiate improved and enhanced commercial terms. This position will have responsibility for a Raw Materials spend in excess of £15million and would suit a Buyer who has already gained experience of purchasing to include full commercial negotiations and the terms and conditions of engaging suppliers. Previous experience of reviewing existing suppliers and be able to clearly demonstrate and support with tangible and quantifiable examples how and to what extent you have reduced the COP within your current business whilst also enhancing the supply chain and maintaining strong supplier relationships. In addition to examples of cost reductions it is crucial that you can demonstrate an effective knowledge and understanding of the modern procurement tools and techniques required to ensure that you always aim for and achieve the best total cost of ownership and not simply lowest price. Whilst formal CIPS qualifications are not a prerequisite for this position clearly it would be a distinct advantage. You will need to be adaptable and able to react to change within a fast paced retailer focused environment. We are not however looking for someone to take on the full burden of our supply chain we specifically want a commercial person who has a passion for executing contracts and ensuring best value. Food and drink experience would be advantageous as would knowledge of the UK food manufacturing supply chain. Alternative you may have gained your purchasing experience within a pure FMCG environment; crucially you will have dealt with a wide range of SKUs each requiring a high number of ingredient or component parts in order to be able to appreciate the complexity and pace required within this dynamic organisation.
