Group Buyer £40k North East

 Working for one part of a much larger and expanding, successful chilled food manufacturer this position represents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Buyer as the business has a number of sites across the UK each operating within distinct food and food and drink categories and as such there is certainly huge potential to grow and develop your career within the business if you have the desire to do so. 

You will now be seeking to develop your career into a Group Buying position with responsibility across a broad spectrum to include; Raw Materials, Packaging and Utilities This position would suit a Buyer who has already gained experience of purchasing to include full commercial negotiations and the terms and conditions of engaging suppliers.  Previous experience of reviewing existing suppliers and be able to clearly demonstrate and support with tangible and quantifiable examples how and to what extent you have reduced the COP within your current business whilst also enhancing the supply chain and maintaining strong supplier relationships.   In addition to examples of cost reductions it is crucial that you can demonstrate an effective knowledge and understanding of the modern procurement tools and techniques required to ensure that you always aim for and achieve the best total cost of ownership and not simply lowest price.  Whilst formal CIPS qualifications are not a prerequisite for this position clearly it would be a distinct advantage.    

You will also be a fully integrated member of the group supply chain team and as such you will need to be able to liaise with all departments across the company which will enable you to demonstrate your natural influencing skills as well as require a degree of diplomacy.  Planning and forecasting within a chilled food environment can be a complex and ever moving feast and as such you will be required to always pull in the same direction as the wider team and seek solutions to the inevitable challenges which will lay ahead.  As such it would be preferred if you have developed your career to date within a food and drink manufacturing environment and ideally have had exposure to supplying chilled, short shelf life products to the UK Grocery multiples.  Alternative you may have gained your purchasing experience within a pure FMCG environment, crucially you will have dealt with a wide range of SKUs each requiring a high number of ingredient or component parts in order to be able to appreciate the complexity and pace required within this dynamic organisation.
