Production Assembly Manager – Northamptonshire

Posted by on Jan 24, 2023 in All Sectors | 0 comments

Production Assembly Manager This is a fantastic opportunity to join a professional, dynamic and growing business operating within an interesting, niche sector.  At their rural site in Northamptonshire they design and assemble bespoke aquaculture equipment and then deliver and install at the customer’s premises which could be anywhere in the UK, it is also likely that future orders will be exported so some foreign travel may be required. The primary tasks of the Production Assembly Manager will be to manage a small team or 2 or 3 Fabricators who will assemble and install the equipment.  You will also ensure  that the required component parts are in stock and available prior to the commencement of each build project, so some prior experience of production equipment management and production planning would be advantageous as would experience of using an MRP, ERP or warehouse management system.  Some project management experience would also align well with this position as would a working knowledge of process chart development.  The Production Assembly Manager will be provided with detailed AutoCAD drawings / designs so an ability to understand and interpret the drawings and designs essential, previous experience of using AutoCAD or SolidWorks is desirable whilst some design knowledge would also be an advantage. This is not a high volume manufacturing environment, instead it is a bespoke Production assembly so experience of working on turnkey solutions and  building an order to specification is required as opposed to producing 100,000 widgets per hour.  Previous experience of plastic production or assembly, especially pipework would be ideal.  As such an engineering or technical background would certainly suit this position.  Much of the assembly if plastic pipework and fabrication with some metal and wood products.  Additional customer requirements can also be added to orders, so the ability to also work on projects more akin to domestic kitchen and bathroom plumbing may be required.  Whilst they are producing very specific aquaculture equipment any previous marine or aquaculture knowledge or experience whilst of course an advantage is not a requirement they already have very highly qualified people in house whose background is within aquaculture.  Instead we are seeking people with strong transferrable skills who can appreciate what an exciting and interesting opportunity this is and who will bring enthusiasm, commitment as well as strong organizational and people management skills. This is a truly unique opportunity to join a fantastic team of dedicated professionals who are now ready to expand the business to the next level, hence seeking to appoint a Production Manager to enable a smooth transition to a larger scale of operation.  If you feel that you have the well-rounded production and operations experience we are seeking then please apply with a copy of your CV or should you wish to discuss in more detail please call Kieron Madden at Woodlands Recruitment Solutions on; 07787408844.  ...

The business is passionate about harnessing the power of the natural world to help reverse some of the negative ecological and economic impacts  we are seeing today. This has driven us to develop a system to help restore marine ecosystems, which had previously collapsed.  Harvesting and then continuing to grow within our ranch systems allows the ecosystem to heal whilst also producing high quality gourmet seafood.  Having recently received blue carbon credits we have now completed the first full life cycle of the business and are seeking a senior Operations lead professional to help enable the business scale up to commercial production across all of it’s sites. In addition to sharing our passion for sustainable and restorative aquaculture production you will also have a demonstrable track record of devising and implementing processes and procedures to enable the most efficient production outcomes whilst maintaining consistently high end quality standards.  Whilst a knowledge of aquaculture and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) would be a distinct advantage you may have gained your operations experience within an alternative but related field such as meat and poultry processing or have a very strong  background within FMCG high volume manufacturing including a strong appreciation of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools and techniques.  Previous experience of scaling up an operation would also be a distinct advantage. This is a senior level appointment reporting to the CEO and covering 5 processing sites across 3 different continents and as such we are seeking candidates who ideally have international experience and previous experience of managing sites across a vast geography and diverse languages and cultures. Whilst your initial focus will be on scaling up production to commercial levels you should also have experience across the wider manufacturing processes such as logistics, supply chain and procurement.  Ideally you will have experience of collecting and interpreting data to shape and influence your decisions and enhance business performance.
